Headlee was no doubt drawn to UNC by former Waynesburg Central wrestler and 3x PIAA State Champion Coleman Scott. The NCAA Champion was hired by UNC this off-season.

In 2014 Headlee finished in third place the PIAA State Tournament, a career best for the junior. The dangerous Headlee pinned returning PIAA State Champion Sam Krivus in the 126 lbs. third place bout. Many felt Headlee wouldn’t see the GIANT Center mats with a loaded 126 lbs. WPIAL field that included Sam Krivus, Dalton Macri, and Dom Forys. In the WPIAL semifinals Headlee fell to Krivus (7-2) but rebounded with an impressive (10-5) victory over senior Dom Forys in the third place match.

As a sophomore Headlee qualified for his first career PIAA State Tournament and advanced into the semifinals but came short of a State Finals birth with a (12-7) overtime defeat. Headlee would fall to finish in sixth place at 113 lbs. During his freshman season at Waynesburg Central Headlee competed at 106 lbs. and finished in fourth at the WPIAL Tournament.

Headlee will not only be in search of his first career PIAA State Championship as a senior but also his first POWERade Championship. Headlee is a 3x medalist at POWERade finishing in third place in all three of his appearances. Headlee enters his senior season with a (122-15) career record.
