Champions Crowned at Freestyle & Greco States

Franklin Regional’s Michael Kemerer won the Junior Freestyle State Championship at 145 lbs.
The PAWF State Championships have wrapped up and many of PA’s top wrestlers and some up-and-comers hit the mats in Chambersburg, PA. In the Junior Freestyle 145 lbs. bracket a loaded field was highlighted by a finals between Franklin Regional teammates Tyler Smith and Michael Kemerer. In the semifinals Smith took down PIAA State Medalist Hayden Hidlay (Mifflin County) score (8-6) while 3x PIAA State runner-up Michael Kemerer took down PIAA State Champion Brock Zacherl (Brookville Area) by tech-fall (14-4). In the finals Kemerer was victorious over his fellow Panther teammate by technical-fall (10-0).
Overall the field of wrestlers was an impressive group that featured a ton of PIAA hardware. In total there were eight (8) Cadet Double Champions and three (3) Junior Double Champions.
