Jordan Wood competes at the 2014 PIAA State Dual Tournament.

The already strong #5 Boyertown Area Bears just got a massive upgrade when junior Jordan Wood made his season debut on Friday night. The 2x PIAA State Runner-up and Cadet World Silver Medalist had missed the entire season thus far due to a shoulder injury and his return to the mat this season was questionable.

On Friday Jordan helped propel the Bears into the District 1 Dual Tournament Finals where they will take on #11 Council Rock South. Competing at 220 lbs. Wood picked up a forfeit against Upper Perkiomen and majored Pennridge senior Ezra Outlaw who is currently ranked #10 in the State at 220 lbs.

Wood’s return is quite a boost but back-up wrestler Brody O’Connell had an impressive season at 220 lbs. picking up an (18-9) record for the Bears. Boyertown was already a favorite to capture their second straight District 1 Dual Tournament but now their chances of making a strong run in Hershey got even better. If Boyertown wins the District 1 Tournament they will face the District 9 Champion in the first round and compete on the opposite side of both the WPIAL Champions and District 11 Champions.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
