Norwin Sophomore Drew Phipps finished as the NHSCA National runner-up

Team Pennsylvania finished in third place behind New Jersey and New York as one (1) Champion was crowned and ten (10) total medals were earned. 

At 132 lbs. Easton Area sophomore Evan Fidelibus, a 2014 PIAA State Qualifier, bounced back to finish in seventh place earning Pennsylvania’s only medal at the weight. Council Rock South sophomore Lucas Martoccio competed at 152 lbs. and finished in eighth place with a (4-3) Tournament record.

Three Pennslyvania wrestlers earned medals at 160 lbs. with two finalist and an eighth place finish. In the finals Wyoming Seminary sophomore Chris Weiler, a Biglerville, PA native, dominated the bracket picking up six (6) straight wins by pin including over Belle Vernon Area sophomore in the finals in (1:28). Austin Bell, a 2014 PIAA Class AAA State Qualifier, finished as the runner-up at 160 lbs.. Nazareth Area sophomore Ricky Fornaciari snuck onto the medal stand placing eighth. At 170 lbs. Lower Dauphin sophomore Bailey Shutt bounced back from a second round defeat to battle back into the consolation finals where he finished in fourth place. 2014 PIAA Class AA State sixth place medalist Garrett Hoffman (Montoursville Area) had an impressive Tournament finishing in fifth place at 170 lbs. 2014 PIAA Class AA State qualifier Connor Buttry placed sixth at 182 lbs.

Despite advancing into the finals at 195 lbs. with relative ease Norwin sophomore Drew Phipps was unable to overcome New Jersey’s Matthew Correnti in the finals falling (4-2). Phipps is coming off a PIAA Class AAA State third place medal at 195 lbs. One of the State’s top heavyweights advanced into the NHSCA sophomore National finals. Southmoreland’s Jake Beistel, a 2014 PIAA Class AA State fifth place medalist, finished as the NHSCA National runner-up falling in overtime (6-5 OT).[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
