Despite Winter making it’s presence known across the State – the PIAA Dual Team Post-Season is heating up as the top teams compete for a spot in the PIAA State Dual Tournament.
Two teams have already earned spots in Hershey next week as #10 General McLane won the District 10 Class AAA Tournament over Cathedral Prep (39-19). In District 12 LaSalle College won the Class AAA District Tournament securing a (40-38) win over Father Judge in the semifinals and Central High in the finals (38-21).
Already there have been surprises and dominance in the District Duals but most notably was unranked Northern Lebanon overcoming #8 Bermudian Springs (36-28). The upset victory automatically qualifies Northern Lebanon to the PIAA State Tournament but will face another daunting task in #3 Boiling Springs.
The WPIAL Class AAA semifinals will feature four schools all ranked in the Top 6 in the State. #3 Franklin Regional may have lost to #2 Belle Vernon Area during the regular season but the Panthers are defending both WPIAL and PIAA Championships. #2 Belle Vernon Area will take on #4 Greater Latrobe in the top half while #3 Franklin Regional meets #6 North Allegheny in the bottom half. Latrobe will be without a key asset with Ethan McCoy sidelined with an illness.
District 3 rivals #13 Central Dauphin and #7 Cumberland Valley square off for what seems like the tenth straight finals meeting.
The rest of the spots for the PIAA State Tournament are up for grabs but for fun here are some predictions on who will be qualifying.

District 3 Runner-up: Northern Lebanon
District 4 Champion: #4 Wyalusing Valley Area
