Young Guns Win Disney Duals Championship
The Young Guns club team continued it’s tear through the National scene winning the AAU Scholastic Duals Championship in the District All-Stars division. The Young Guns Black consisted of mainly WPIAL stars from Pennsylvania and rolled to a (9-0) record with a win in the finals over Iowa Blck (37-21).
Five Young Guns wrestlers went undefeated against all nine of their opponents including 2x PIAA State Champion Devin Brown (Franklin Regional). The Young Guns were not the only Pennsylvania club team to compete in the District All-Star Division and they faced off with Keystone Elite Orange, Brawlers Blaze, Brawlers Elite, and MAWA Blue. In those four matches there were several notable match-ups; in a re-match of the 2014 PIAA Class AAA State finals at 106 lbs. Devin Brown (Franklin Regional) defeated Dan Moran (Northampton Area) score (4-1); 2x PIAA Class AAA State Medalist A.C. Headlee (Waynesburg Central) defeated 2014 PIAA Class AA State Champion Korbin Myers (Boiling Springs) at 126 lbs. score (3-1); at 182 lbs. 2014 PIAA Class AAA State runner-up Kellon Stout (Mount Lebanon) downed 2014 PIAA Class AAA State third place medalist Drew Phipps (Norwin) score (1-0).
