PIAA Hearing Set for Wiercioch and Retherford

According to Rod Frisco, the PIAA board will meet on Thursday November 17th to determine whether or not two previous rulings will be overruled, allowing the two State Champions to compete this season. Cody Wiercioch and Zane Retherford, both juniors this academic year, were ruled ineligible by their respective Districts due to “transferring school districts for athletic purposes.”

The much anticipated PIAA ruling will not only determine the fate of both Wiercioch and Retherford, but also significantly alter future situations involving transfers. The debate on transfers within the Pennsylvania wrestling community is not a new one.

In fact, each year the debate is reignited by high-profile wrestlers, such as Wiercioch and Retherford, moving school districts. Read Rod’s post on the hearing @ RodFrisco.com
