Former PA Wrestlers at the NCWA Nationals

The NCWA National Championship took place last week and many former PA wrestlers competed and performed well.

In the 133 LBS bracket, West Chester University’s Joey Bonaduce (Unionville HS) earned All-American honors by placing fifth. Joey advanced to the medal round by defeating former District 1 wrestler Jon Dempsey (Owen J. Roberts) by a score of (7-3). Jon Dempsey, who competes for Lafayette College, qualified at 133 LBS and went 2-2.

Liberty University senior and former State Champion Scott Clymer (Northwestern Lehigh HS) claimed the National Championship at 141 LBS with a tech-fall in the finals. Also qualifying for Nationals at 141 LBS was  West Chester University’s Luke Bilyeu (Haverford HS). 2x State Champion Ashton Primus (Connellsville HS)   won his first NCWA National Championship at 157 LBS. Primus was a former NAIA All-American for Notre-Dame College. At 165 LBS, two former PA wrestler earned All-American status as Liberty’s Bobby Clymer (Northwestern Lehigh HS) finished as the runner-up. West Chester University’s senior Dustin Tancredi (Council Rock South HS) placed fifth at 165 LBS this season after capturing a National Championship a year ago.

At 235 LBS two West Chester University wrestler qualified for Nationals and one, Tom Dwyer (Central York HS) earned All-American status by finishing fourth. Also qualifying at 235 LBS for WCU was former Hatboro-Horsham wrestler Ryan Kreppel.

Penn State – DuBois also had two National qualifiers in Christopher Minarchick (Philipsburg- Osceola HS) at 285 LBS and Shane Alterio (Bellefonte HS) at 157 LBS.
