G. Hammond

2012 State Champion Garett Hammond has committed to Penn State as Cael Sanderson’s Fall 2013 recruiting class continues to claim the Keystone’s top wrestlers. Chambersburg Area High School senior Garett Hammond is one of the Nation’s top middle-weights who enters this season with a 115-26 career record. Last season Hammond won the PIAA State Class AAA title at 145 lbs. improving on his State runner-up finish in 2011 at 135 lbs. As a freshman Hammond attended the Pennsylvania Prep school Wyoming Seminary where he was a National Prep seventh place medalist. Last month Hammond competed in the Super 32 Challenge where he was the runner-up at 152 lbs. in the Nation’s premier pre-season competition. Hammond will look to repeat as a State Champion in 2013, most likely at the 152 lbs. weight class. He predicts to compete for Penn State at the 149 lbs./157 lbs. range.

Also making a commitment from Chambersburg Area High School was senior Tanner Shoap. The 2x PIAA State Class AAA medalist committed to Drexel University where he projects to compete at 125 lbs. One of the Nation’s top heavyweights, Brooks Black (Blair Academy), who is originally from Dover, PA has committed to Illinois.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
