Updated State Rankings: Marsteller Drops to 160 lbs.

Screen Shot 2013-02-14 at 11.31.22 AMChance Marsteller has made taking on State Champions a habit in his three year career at Kennard-Dale High School. The undefeated junior dismantled returning State Champ Brian Brill (Central Mountain) in the Class AAA State finals last season at 160 lbs. en route to his second straight PIAA State Championship. This season Marsteller has been competing at 170 lbs. and in December at the POWERade Christmas Tournament he squeaked by 2x State Champion Cody Wiercioch (Canon-McMillan) by a score of 3-2 in UTB. Unfortunately, for those fans who wanted to see Marsteller vs. Wiercioch Part II this post-season, the match-up will not be happening. Marsteller instead has chosen to return to his more natural weight at 160 lbs. where he will in all likely hood meet returning State Champion Garrett Peppelman (Central Dauphin). Peppelman is undefeated this season at (37-0) and is in search of his second straight PIAA State Championship and career third PIAA Medal. The junior is ranked #5 in the Nation by Intermat at 160 lbs. while Marsteller is #1 in the Nation at 170 lbs. The match-up has the strong possibility of occurring twice this post-season in both the SC Regional Tournament and PIAA State Tournament.
