Prep's Gromacki defeats Korbin Myers at Tool City Tournament

Pittsburgh recruit and Cathedral Prep senior Jake Gromacki earned his second Tool City Championship title with a (4-2) overtime victory over 2x PIAA Medalist Korbin Myers (Boiling Springs) at 120 lbs. Gromacki, a 3x PIAA State Medalist himself, earned his 100th career victory during the tournament and was named the Class AAA Outstanding Wrestler. It was also revenge for Gromacki as he lost to Myers in last season’s Tool City Tournament at 113 lbs.

At 113 lbs. two top 10 ranked wrestlers in Class AAA clashed in the finals as General McLane senior Joe Wheeling defeated sophomore Charlie Lenox (McDowell) by a score of (2-1) for the second time this season. At 138 lbs. General McLane’s Keller Watkins slipped by Saegertown sophomore Nick Monico with a (1-0) victory in the finals.

Is the team race District 3’s Boiling Springs captured the Team Championship pulling ahead of runner-up Fort LeBoeuf and third place team General McLane.
