World Champion Jarod Verkleeren To Miss Post-Season

According to Flo Wrestling’s Ryan Holmes 2015 UWW Cadet World Freestyle Champion Jarod Verkleeren (Belle Vernon Area) will not be competing in the 2016 PIAA Individual Post-Season.

On the final day of the PIAA State Dual Team Championship PIAA State Medalist Jarod Verkleeren weighed in at 152 lbs. and bumped up to 160 lbs. where he competed twice. Due to misinformation from the Belle Vernon Area coaching staff Jarod’s weigh-in on the final day counted towards his decent plan which would have forced him up to 152 lbs.

However, according Homes’ article, Jarod was not allowed to wrestle off at either 152 lbs. or 160 lbs. nor was his older brother Derek granted a wrestle-off at 160 lbs.

Although many expected to see Jarod at 152 lbs. after Derek suffered a leg injury in the PIAA Dual Team Semifinals against Bethlehem Catholic it now appears Derek is cleared to wrestle in the post-season.

Stay tuned to PA Power Wrestling for updates on this developing story!
