Former Canon-Mac Wrestler Camden Fontenot Wins Texas State Title

Junior Camden Fontenot travelled south following his sophomore year at Canon McMillan High School where he was a South West Regional qualifier going (24-5) at 126 lbs. for the Big Macs. His junior year Fontenot competed for Clear Lake High School in Houston, Texas.

Fontenot quickly showed why Pennsylvania Wrestling is held to a higher standard taking Texas by storm at 132 lbs. In the Class 6A State Tournament, the largest sized schools in the Lone Star State, Camden was the top seed at 132 lbs. and fought his way to the State Championship in true Pennsylvania fashion.

After picking up a (17-8) major decision in the first round Fontenot needed sudden victory in the quarterfinals winning (10-8 SV) to advance into the semifinals. There he grabbed a (4-2) decision and advanced into the State Finals. Despite being down (3-1) Fontenot battled back to secure a (6-3) decision and his first State Championship title.

Camden ended the season with a (36-2) record bringing his career total to (79-18).
