FARGO, ND – After an extended stay in Fargo for the Cadet National Championships Team Pennsylvania capped their trip by earning eleven All-Americans and finishing third in the team race. Seven of those wrestlers became Cadet Double All-Americans taking home both Freestyle and Greco-Roman hardware. Leading the Cadets was PIAA State runner-up Carter Starocci (Cathedral Prep) who moved up to 160 lbs. in Greco-Roman but got the same result as Freestyle as he became Pennsylvania’s only Cadet Double National Champion of 2017. It was Starocci’s second straight Cadet Greco All-American finish as he was eighth in 2016.

Joining Starocci at 160 lbs. was rising sophomore Angel Garcia (Mariana Bracetti) who was a North East Regional fifth place medalist as a rookie. Garcia left Fargo finishing third in Greco-Roman for his first All-American finish. At 94 lbs. Sheldon Seymour matched his Freestyle finish by again taking third in Greco-Roman. Germantown Academy’s Chris Kim ended up in seventh place at 106 lbs.

Two Pennsylvania wrestlers battled for fifth place at 126 lbs. with Josh Jones (Saucon Valley) and Ed Scott (DuBois Area) clashing. Jones, who fell in the blood round during Freestyle, upended teammate Scott by tech-fall (17-7) to finish in fifth at 126 lbs. At 138 lbs. a pair of Cadet Freestyle All-Americans repeated that feat in Greco-Roman with Michael Kistler (Northampton) taking fifth and Carter Tuttle (Wyoming Seminary) finishing in eighth. Tuttle moved up to 138 lbs. in Greco where he went (4-3) and forfeiting the seventh place match. 

Wyoming Seminary stud Darrien Roberts left Fargo with two third place stop signs as he again took third at 182 lbs. this time in Greco-Roman. Two bigs, Hunter Catka (Sun Valley) and Colby Whitehill (Brookville), rounded out the eleven Greco All-Americans as each became Cadet Double All-Americans. Catka took seventh at 220 lbs. while Whitehill repeated his Freestyle finish as he took seventh at 285 lbs.
