Luca Frinzi and Jeffrey Boyd Take Over Top Spots in Updated State Rankings

You don’t take out two wrestlers, each ranked #1 in the State in their respective classes, in the same weekend and not make moves in updated rankings. Bethlehem Catholic senior Luca Frinzi did just that last weekend in the Escape The Rock as he took at #1 Clayton Ulrey (Lower Dauphin) in the semifinals and #1 Thayne Lawerence (Fraizer) in the finals of 160 pounds. Now Frinzi, a Lehigh recruit and returning PIAA State Medalist, finds himself #1 in the State for Class AAA at 160 pounds.

Also moving into the #1 spot for the first time this season is Jeffrey Boyd of McDowell. The senior and West Virginia recruit won a PIAA Class AAA State Championship last season at 132 pounds. Boyd was #2 behind the Nation’s #1 ranked wrestler at 145 pounds Ryan Anderson of Bethlehem Catholic however he dropped to 138 pounds last week at the Top Gun Tournament in Ohio.  The senior takes over #1 in the State at 138 pounds.
