He will now take on returning State Medalist Devon Britto (Northampton) in the quarterfinals.
152 #18 Colby Romjue (Susquehannock) DEC #3 Dillon Sheehy (Council Rock North), 5-4
In one of the more shocking results of the night was at 152 pounds where #3 Dillon Sheehy couldn’t get it together against junior Colby Romjue. Sheehy made headlines last weekend when he took out the #1 ranked wrestler in the State, Dan Mancini (OJR), but he was unable to capitalize on a favorable draw. Romjue came out swinging attempting a high crotch from distance that he converted for a takedown. Sheehy escaped to end the first and again in the second period, as the junior responded with a takedown of his own to go ahead 4-2. Romjue wasn’t flustered as he clawed his way to a leg and ended up getting height and flipping Sheehy over for a reversal.
170 #8 Angel Garcia (Mariana Bracetti) DEC #3 Luke Nichter (Chambersburg), 7-6
In a re-match of the 2019 Escape The Rock Finals Angel Garcia got revenge on 2018 PIAA State runner-up Luke Nichter. In the first period Nichter connected on a takedown to go up 2-0. In the second period a long and lanky Garcia was being put on his back by a Nichter cradle but he somehow slipped out grabbing a leg and getting a reversal. Garcia returned Nichter to the mat and hit a tilt as soon as they hit the mat for three near-fall points. Despite giving up a stalling point in the third period Garcia held on for a 7-6 win.
