Franklin Regional’s Dom Giannangeli competes in the Dapper Dan Classic

In my opinion the most improved wrestler of the 2015 Season was Franklin Regional’s Dom Giannangeli. The PIAA State Fourth Place Medalist lived in the shadows of “The Franklin Regional Five” but if there was an award for “6th Man Of The Year” in wrestling – it would certainly go to Giannangeli.

Dom was a two year starter for the Panthers in his final two seasons but also saw varsity action in both his freshman and sophomore seasons. In 2015 Dom advanced out of a loaded WPIAL bracket at 138 lbs. and qualified for the PIAA State Tournament for the first time in his career. In Hershey Giannangeli continued to impress advancing into the semifinals. As he had been all season Giannangeli was stuck behind two of the best wrestlers in the Nation at 138 lbs. – Sam Krivus and Cameron Coy. As expected Krivus and Coy finished #1 and #2 in the State but third wheel Giannangeli wasn’t far behind finishing in fourth place.

He finished his career by being selected to compete for Team WPIAL in the Dapper Dan. He was (76-30) on his career and was an integral part in Franklin Regional’s back-to-back PIAA State Dual Team Championships. He is yet another PA wrestler staying home to compete for Nittany Lion Head Coach Cael Sanderson. Giannangeli predicts to compete at 141 lbs. in college.
