Benton's Vayle Baker Wins Gold at Pan-Am Women Cadets

Pan-American Champion Vayle Baker (Benton) and runner-up Jessica Rudick (LAW)

Two Pennslyvania wrestlers spent their Fourth of July weekend in Guadalajara, Mexico at the Pan-American Cadet Women’s Championship.

Both girls brought back medals to the U.S. as Vayle-Rae Baker (Benton Area) and Jess Rudick (Solanco) competed for Team USA at the Pan-American Cadet Women’s Championship.

Vayle-Rae was the only United State’s wrestler to stand a top the podium capturing a Gold Medal at 40 kg/88 lbs. Baker won her first match by a narrow (6-6) decision over Karah Bulaqui of Canada and won the Gold Medal by fall over an opponent from Mexico.

Joining Vayle-Rae was Quarryville native Jessica Rudick who placed second at 38 kg/83 lbs. for Team USA. In her sole match Rudick fell in the finals by fall to an opponent from Mexico.
