In Defense of Central Dauphin Head Coach Jeff Sweigard

I have kept quite about the District 3 Team Championship finals involving Central Dauphin and Cumberland Valley specifically the actions of head coaches Jeff Sweigard and Dave Heckard.

Most of you know I wrestled for Central Dauphin and I consider coach Jeff Sweigard, “Swags,” a role model in addition to an inspirational human being. I am not condoning the fact Swags had to be “restrained” following the conclusion of the controversial match nor the message this sends to his team and onlookers. My argument is that we as fans, spectators, coaches, or wrestlers should not necessarily judge a man’s character on a 15 second video clip. And that goes for both sides. I know Dave Heckard personally and this incident doesn’t reflect his true nature.

I felt obligated to break my silence on our weekly podcast “The Mat Report” and address the incident after I listened to Episode 94 of FloWrestling’ Radio Live published on February 8, 2016. During that podcast Flo Wrestling’s Willie Saylor attacked Jeff Sweigard and the Central Dauphin Wrestling Community based on his observations from the sidelines.
