State Runner-up Austin DeSanto Commits to Drexel
2016 PIAA State Runner-up Austin DeSanto (Exeter Township) has given a verbal commitment to Drexel according to Flo Wrestling. The #12 ranked wrestler of all Class of 2017 graduates owns a career record of (135-7) and last season went (50-1) only falling to #1 Spencer Lee (Franklin Regional) in the 120 lbs. PIAA State Finals by tech-fall.
As a rookie DeSanto got his high school career off to a fast start but fell short of a State Tournament spot finishing fifth in the South Central Regional going (35-3). The next season Austin won the SC Regional Championship at 113 lbs. and advanced into the PIAA State Quarterfinals for a showdown with Devin Brown (Franklin Regional). It was arguably the most entertaining bout of the Tournament as Brown was able to hold off DeSanto in overtime by earning a takedown and fall in (6:47). Brown would go on to win his third straight PIAA State Championship while Austin earned his first PIAA State Medal with a fifth place finish.
Considered one of the top offensive wrestlers in the State Austin loves scoring big points from his feet using his signature fireman’s, a dump, slide-by and duck-under. He predicts to compete at 125 lbs. for the Drexel Dragons.
