Connor Schram

This week some of Pennsylvania’s top wrestlers have decided on where they will continue their education and wrestling at the next level. Just two days after Cody Wiercioch of Canon McMillan committed to Pittsburgh, his teammate Connor Schram has verbaled to Stanford. Schram, who enters his senior season at Cannon-McMillan with a career record of 114-8, will look to capture his second State Title in 2013. As a freshman Schram won the 103 lbs. State Championship, followed by a State Runner-Up finish at 112 lbs. as a sophomore, and last season as a junior he once again finished as the State Runner-Up this time at 120 lbs. Schram should compete for the Stanford Cardinal at 125 lbs.

In addition to Wiercioch Schram, Council Rock North senior John Dutrow made a commitment this week to a NCAA Division I program. Dutrow, a PIAA State FourthPlace finisher last season at 132 lbs., will continue his career at Drexel. The senior enters his final year with a career record of (110-33) earning his first PIAA State medal last season after qualifying for the PIAA State Tournament in his two previous seasons. The Drexel Dragons will greatly benefit from Dutrow’s presence and he should fit into the line-up around the 141 lbs. range.

Other Pennsylvania wrestlers who have made commitments include State Runner-Up Peter Renda, State Sixth Place finisher Cam Cyphert, and State Qualifier Colton Peppelman. Brandywine Heights senior Peter Renda, a PIAA State AA Runner-up last season at 152 lbs., has committed to North Carolina State. Cochranton senior Cam Cyphert, a PIAA State AA Sixth Place finisher at 220 lbs. last season has committed to Clarion where he will join an already impressive recruiting class of 2013. Central Dauphin senior Colton Peppelman, a State AAA qualifier last season at 160 lbs., will follow his older brother Walter and continue his education and wrestling career at Harvard.
