UPDATE: Dual Team Finals Set in Multiple Districts

By the end of Saturday February 2nd, we will know who is in and who is out of the 2013 PIAA State Dual Team Championships. Majority of Class AAA Districts have set their Championship Finals and Consolation Finals matches to determine who will qualify for the PIAA State Dual Team Championships. In Class AAA District 1 top seed Owen J. Roberts breezed into the finals where they will meet #3 seed Downingtown East on Saturday. In the quarter-final round #7 seed Council Rock South upset #2 seed Spring-Ford by winning 30-29 on Criteria F, most tech-falls. Council Rock South then fell to Downingtown East but along with Upper Perkiomen, Boyertown Area, and Spring-Ford they are alive in the consolation bracket.

In District 2 both Class AA & AAA finals are set as each only sends the Champion to the PIAA State Dual Team Championships. In Class AAA #1 seed Delaware Valley will do battle with #2 seed Wyoming Valley West and in Class AA #1 seed Western Wayne takes on #2 seed Lake Lehman.

District 3 Class AAA will see #1 seed Central Dauphin against surprising finalists # 6 seed Chambersburg Area. Central Dauphin outlasted SPring Grove Area (33-26) in the semi-finals as Chambersburg Area narrowly defeated Wilson West Lawn (30-27). Spring Grove Area and Wilson West Lawn will wrestle in the consolation finals to determine seeding into the PIAA State Dual Team Championships as both will qualify for the first round on Monday February 4th.

In District 4 Class AAA #1 seed Jersey Shore Area will take on #2 seed Shikellamy in the finals.

The WPIAL semi-finals were an exciting display of action as both Classes will send the top 3 teams to the PIAA State Dual Team Championships. In Class AAA #1 seed Canon-McMillan defeated Kiski Area (36-24) and the returning PIAA State Dual Team Champions will sek their fourth consecutive WPIAL Championship against #2 seed Franklin Regional. Franklin Regional is coming off an emotional one point victory (28-27) over North Allegheny that saw several top wrestlers go head-to-head. North Allegheny and Kiski Area will wrestle to determine the third and final representative from the WPIAL at the PIAA State Dual Team Championships. In Class AA, #1 seed Burrell escaped #4 seed Chartiers-Houston (37-30) and will take on tough #2 seed South Fayette in the finals. South Fayette defeated #3 seed Jefferson-Morgan (37-23) in the semi-finals and like Class AAA, Chartiers-Houston and Jefferson-Morgan will wrestle to determine the third and final representative from the WPIAL in the PIAA State Dual Team Championships.

In District 8 Pittsburgh City League favorite and #1 seed Taylor Allderdice defeated #3 seed Perry Traditional Academy (54-18) in the finals to earn a spot in the PIAA State Dual Team Championships.

In District 12 #1 seed LaSalle College defeated Central High (63-10) in the finals and earned a spot in next weeks PIAA State Dual Team Championships.
