Canon-Mac Head Coach Chris Mary embraces Brendon Price after his match deciding victory.

I feel like I have been here before. I am walking around the GIANT Center floor snapping photos of Canon-McMillan and Bethlehem Catholic holding PIAA Team Championship trophies. Then I remember, I have been here before, one year ago in fact.

The results of 2013 were no different as WPIAL Champion Canon-McMillan made it two Class AAA State Dual Team Championships in a row with a come-from-behind win over State Powerhouse Central Dauphin. The Rams were up 12 points going into the final three bouts when Canon-Mac turned the tables. Two falls by senior Big Mac’s #3 State Ranked Alex Campbell at 220 lbs. and #12 Angelo Broglia at 285 lbs. tied the match (31-31) with one bout left. At 106 lbs. it was junior Brendon Price, ranked #13 in the State at 106 lbs., for Canon-McMillan and sophomore Zach Elvin, ranked #2 in the State at 106 lbs., for Central Dauphin with the winner determining the 2013 Class AAA State Championship. The two wrestlers are no strangers as they met twice last season, both won by Central Dauphin’s Zach Elvin. In December 2011, at the POWERade Christmas Tournament, Elvin majored Price (13-2). In February 2012, at last seasons State Team Tournament Semi-Final round, Elvin again defeated Price (8-5) in Central Dauphin’s first loss in 96 appearances. This time around, with a State Championship on the line, #13 Brendon Price reversed the result and upset  #2 Elvin (4-3) in a thrilling end to the Finals. It was a tough defeat for Central Dauphin and their fans who were hoping for revenge against Canon-McMillan.
