Former Easton Area High School wrestler Eric Burgey may have never won the PIAA State Tournament but he is both a NAIA National Champion and NCAA National Champion. Burgey, a redshirt junior at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio captured the NCAA Division II National Championship at 174 lbs. ending his first season at Notre Dame with a (25-7) record. Burgey spent his first two years at William Penn University located in Oskaloosa, Iowa. During his freshman campaign the former Red Rover went (33-4) and placed fifth at the NAIA National Championships competing at 149 lbs. In his sophomore season at William Penn Burgey again competed at 149 lbs. but this time he ended on top capturing the NAIA National Championship at 149 lbs. winning five bouts in a row.

After transferring to wrestling power-house Notre Dame College, which made the jump from NAIA to NCAA Division II in 2012, the junior also moved up in weight to 174 lbs. Burgey was able to advance into the finals after a (3-1 OT) victory in the semi-finals and a Championship winning major decision (14-2) in the Finals.
