5 Earn Championships at Beast of the East

Senior Scotty Parker (Pennridge) is only one of many talented light-weights in the State of PA and the Lehigh recruit let his opposition know – he isn’t going away. The 2x PIAA State medalist won the 120 lbs. Beast of the East Championship from the 3rd seed position, knocking off the 2nd and 1st seeds in the process. Parker was followed up by an upset from BECA senior Zeke Moisey who defeated Blair’s talented Matthew Kolodzik (7-4) in the finals. Kolodzik entered the Tournament ranked #2 in the Nation by InterMat while Moisey came in at #5.

A pair of #1 seeds from the Keystone State were unable to cash-in, as seniors TC Warner (Cumberland Valley) and Garrett Peppleman (Central Dauphin) both fell in the finals at 160 lbs. and 170 lbs. respectively.

The upper-weights were dominated by Pennslyvania as the 195 lbs., 220 lbs., and 285 lbs. Champions all were from PA. Haverford School junior L.J. Barlow won the 195 lbs. Championship in ultimate-tie-breaker. Super sophomore Jordan Wood (Boyertwon Area) dominated the field winning the 220 lbs. Championship followed by 3x PIAA State Champion Thomas Haines (Solanco) capping of the run for PA at 285 lbs.

Overall a total of 35 Pennslyvania wrestlers/natives captured top 8 honors including 10 tournament finalists and 5 tournament Champions. PA Prep Wyoming Seminary finished in third place while PIAA schools Nazareth Area, Bethlehem Catholic, Central Dauphin, and Cumberland Valley all finished in the Top Ten.
