The studs showed up today for Cumberland Valley as the Eagles stormed past Nazareth Area (29-26) in a showdown between two of the top teams in the State.

Nazareth Area, without IndyCar racer Sage Karam, fell short of the bonus points race. The most critical move for CV was Alex Wolfe making the drop to 132 lbs., giving Head coach Dave Heckard a balanced and strong middleweight with Alex Wolfe (132 lbs.), Patrick Duggan (138 lbs.), Felix Beliga (145 lbs.), and TC Warner (152 lbs.). Hoping to swap a pair of falls in the final two bouts, Nazareth sent out Tyler Tarsi at 160 lbs. against Brandy Rudy but the CV senior held off giving up only a decision.

In a battle of two State ranked wrestlers Cumberland Valley freshman Will Kaldes picked up 6 points in a critical fall over sophomore Garrett Snyder. Tyson Klump responded for Nazareth in yet another match between two State ranked grapplers as he earned a major decision over Wyatt Long at 113 lbs. PIAA State Medalist Tyrone Klump was unable to get the fall and settled for a major decision at 126 lbs.

At 132 lbs. and 145 lbs. the two teams exchanged regular decisions but it was TC Warner who earned a fall at 152 lbs. to send the Eagles ahead by six points. In the final bout of the dual meet Tyler Tarsi bumped up to 160 lbs. and took on Cumberland Valley’s Brandon Rudy. Despite multiple attempts Tarsi could not generate bonus points and earned a regular decision sealing the victory for Cumberland Valley.

After the upset win Cumberland Valley got on the bus and headed to back west to take on Chambersburg Area in their second dual meet of the day. Dave Heckard’s squad won that match as well bringing their season record to (12-1).
