State Dual Team Rankings Released; Reynolds & BECAHI Hold Top Spot
The season’s first State Dual Team Rankings have been released by PA Power Wrestling. In Class AA returning PIAA State Dual Team Champion Reynolds remain at the top from last season when they went (23-0) en route to their third State Championship in program history. Head coach Casey Taylor welcomes back PIAA State Champion Beau Bayless (113 lbs.) and 3-time PIAA State Medalist Cole Matthews (138 lbs.) who anchor a talented line-up. Nipping on their heels is District 4 power Southern Columbia who last season took third at the PIAA State Dual Team Tournament. They are headed by 2017 PIAA State Champion and Lehigh recruit Jaret Lane (120 lbs.) in addition to three returning PIAA State qualifiers who include sophomore Gaige Garcia (170 lbs.).
In Class AAA Bethlehem Catholic once again is the team to beat despite finishing as State Runner-ups last season. The Golden Hawks won Class AAA State Dual Team Championships in 2015 and 2016. Head coach Jeff Karam lost a few studs from a season ago but reloaded with a solid group of underclassmen who thus far have proven to be critical. Those include Lackman brothers, Matt and Nathan, who add to returning PIAA State Medalists Ryan Anderson (132 lbs.), Jared Papcsy (138 lbs.) and Kenny Herrmann (126 lbs.). District 11 rival Nazareth Area will look to once again take out BECAHI with PIAA State Champion Sammy Sasso (152 lbs.) leading the charge.
