Pennsylvania Wrestling Fans…it is that time of year again to start looking ahead at the new faces on the PA Wrestling scene. Last season was caulked full of freshmen talent in both Classes as a total of three (3) rookies claimed the ultimate prize with PIAA State Gold. Most notable was Franklin Regional’s Spencer “The Kid” Lee who dominated everyone in his path at 113 lbs.. Not only did he go undefeated in his first season of high school wrestling but he did so by tech-falling and pinning a large majority of his opponents. Lee recently captured his second straight Cadet National Freestyle Championship and reached the highest honors of his age by claiming the FILA Cadet World Championship in Slovakia.

Despite finishing fifth in the South East Regional and narrowly qualifying for the PIAA State Tournament – Bethlehem Catholic freshman Jake Reigel earned the PIAA State Championship at 106 lbs. in Class AA. Another freshman who continued to improve from the first match of his career to the PIAA State Tournament finals, was Penn Trafford freshman Cameron Coy. The Warrior had one of the most impressive post-seasons of the freshmen class, taking down returning State Champion and senior Tyler Smith (Franklin Regional) in the WPIAL Finals, and followed it up with a PIAA State Championship at 132 lbs. winning a tight finals match with Nazareth Area senior Chase Zemenak.
